Matthias is doing very well. He has been with us for six weeks now. He loved Christmas and was practically floating around the house he was so excited. :-) Since he has been with us, he has gained 4 lbs! He has also gotten a little bit taller, though I never measured him until a week ago. But we can tell because the pants he has are getting shorter on him. He is being homeschooled right now, at least until the end of 4th grade, and he seems to enjoy it. He is great with Henry. He definitely has had some adjustments, but he has surprised us all with how great he is doing. He is a happy boy who loves to read and learn. He loves to play board games and video games. He is a good helper around the house, when asked. He's a good kid and as I've said before, he fits perfectly into our family. The last few nights he has given Tim and I a kiss all on his own as he hugs us good night. He also recently said out of the blue, "I love living in the B____ family!" with a huge smile on his face.
We recently got him an eye exam and some new glasses. He was ecstatic. He looks so cute in them.
Matthias is just a fun kid with a zest for life and a terrific sense of humor. He works hard on overcoming his issues (or "weaknesses" as he calls them) and seems very willing to make the changes he needs to. It hasn't been easy for him to learn a whole bunch of new rules with a new family and there have been sad and angry times, but he is making tremendous progress and we are so pleased with his efforts and proud of him.
