Korben & Krislyn's Wedding

My nephew, Korben married his lovely bride, Krislyn on June 30th in the Rexburg, Idaho temple. We drove up to Idaho on June 29th from Salt Lake City. As we were driving there, we started to receive phone calls and texts from Tim's sister, our friends and neighbors. Apparently there was a huge fire in the canyon near our neighborhood. We started getting conflicting reports that "things [were] fine" and that "so and so's house burned down". We were nervous and unsure if we should turn back and go home or not. Finally Tim said to me, "Sweetie, you don't want to miss Korben's wedding. Even if our house burned down, there is nothing we can do to stop it. We need to be at Korben's wedding." And he was so right. It was a beautiful ceremony! The night before the wedding, at the rehearsal dinner, Korben & Krislyn sang together a cappella. It was lovely. (They also did it at the wedding reception and it got me all teary and covered in goosebumps.) It was really hot that day and so after the wedding ceremony, when we were taking pictures, people were getting a little testy (at least my kids were feeling very impatient). I wasn't able to take as many photos as I had wanted to because of this. Henry does not like being hot and so he was cranky. When the baby is cranky, the mama is cranky. We ended up leaving the reception earlier than we had expected to and headed back home (we were really anxious to see how things were with our neighborhood due to the fire). The ride home was not the most fun I have ever had, but we were lucky enough to make it home just as they lifted the evacuation order for our neighborhood. It was very smoky and there were ashes all over our yard, but our home was still standing! We are blessed. It was a pretty eventful weekend. I am so happy for Korben and Krislyn. They are terrific people and make such a lovely couple.
