Bethlehem's 17th Birthday!

On March 4, 2012, our oldest child, Bethlehem turned 17 years old! Beth is such a delightful young woman. She is kind, honest, funny, gentle, graceful, spunky and a peacemaker. Beth loves to watch Korean dramas (or "KD" as she calls them), paint her nails, listen to music, play her violin, READ, watch movies, tease people, hang out with friends, go shopping for clothes, get her hair done in different styles, and eat Ethiopian food. It has been such a blessing to watch this beautiful young lady change and grow over the years. When we met her in Ethiopia for the first time, she was a teeny-tiny 9 year old who looked about 5 or 6 years old. She was so timid and yet trusting and playful. The first time she met us, she felt afraid. She says that Tim and I looked "weird" to her and she worried what life would be like with us. I can only imagine what that must have felt like. What a brave, courageous girl she was and is. We are so proud of you Beth and we love you dearly. You are so precious to our family!

Bethlehem's Birthday Picks:

Cereal: Cracklin' Oat Bran
Chips: Flamin' Hot Cheetos
Soda: Orange Crush & Cream Soda
Ice Cream: Mint Oreo
Dessert: Skor Bar Cake
Dinner: Fish Tacos

Beth does NOT like getting her photo taken. She tries to avoid it at all costs, but there is no way I let her out of it on her birthday. I had a hard time even getting her to smile. Silly girl. Isn't she drop-dead gorgeous!?

The obligatory balloon shot! ;-)

And Claire snuck in there! ;-)

The turtle candles we are using on the bday cakes this year are lit and ready to go!

Beth opening her presents from us. We gave her two dresses and lots of jewelry. Beth loves jewelry!

What a sweet post. We love Beth! I remember when she first came and thinking she must be so overwhelmed! She is such a good, kind person.
